Short Bio

I am Professor of Applied Microeconomics and Managing Director of the Institute of Economics at the University of St. Gallen. I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of St. Gallen (1999) and a Habilitation in Economics from the University of Zurich (2006). Prior to joining the faculty in St. Gallen in 2012, I was a Visiting Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (2006-2007) and held a SNSF professorship (“F√∂rderungsprofessur”, 2007-2012). I served as an Independent Member (2005-2010) and Vice President (2010-2015) of the Swiss Competition Commission. In 2016 and 2018, I was a Visiting Research Scholar at Duke University.
