Short Bio


I studied economics at the University of St. Gallen, the Study Center Gerzensee, and the University of Florida, and obtained a PhD in economics from the University of St. Gallen. In 1999 I joined the University of Zurich as a Senior Research Associate. I was awarded a SNSF professorship in 2007 and appointed Full Professor of Applied Microeconomics at the University of St. Gallen in 2012. Since 2013 I am Managing Director of the Institute of Economics (FGN-HSG). I served as an independent member (2005-2010) and vice president (2010-2015) of the Swiss Competition Commission. I held visiting positions in Europe and the US.
